The One and Only Ivan is an upcoming 2020 American fantasy film directed by Thea Sharrock, from a screenplay written by Mike White, and based on the children's novel of the same name by K. A. Applegate. Sam Rockwell stars as the voice of the titular Ivan, with Angelina Jolie, Danny DeVito, Helen Mirren, Brooklynn Prince, Ramón RodrÃguez, Ariana Greenblatt, and Bryan Cranston also starring. The One and Only Ivan is set to be released on Disney+ on August 14, 2020.
The film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on August 14, 2020 by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. On June 12, 2020, it was announced the film would instead be released on Disney+ a week later on August 21, 2020, due to the closures of movie theaters that started in mid March because of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. With the release of the film's official trailer on July 8, 2020, the film was moved back to its original August 14 date, following the delay of Disney's Mulan to the August 21 date.
